If I recall there were stability improvements made with large file size handling sometime in the last couple versions, but there will always be a practical limit to how dense an object/ how large a file you can work with before zbrush will become increasingly unstable, eventually failing to save or load an object all together.įirst off, 30 million polys is a lot for a single subtool. That said, your object or file is likely too large for your system/ zbrush version to handle. Try remeshing the problem subtool to create entirely new geometry, and delete the problem subtool before saving. Yes, individual subtools can develop problematic geometry causing stability issues. Is it something with that subtool itself?Įdit: Here’s some more info on my computer: But the file had a smaller filesize at the point, I’m not sure what the issue could be. However, the program still crashes whenever I try to save, lower the subdivision level, etc. So for my next test, I did the opposite I deleted everything but the cloth subtool, which left it at a mere 9 million points total. Okay, fair enough, I thought it must be a file size thing. That specific cloth subtool isn’t too taxing (only about 9 million points) but I deleted it as a test anyway.įor some reason, after I deleted it, the file stopped crashing altogether. Autosave (Or saving of any kind) also causes the program to crash.Īt this point, I experimented to see just what was causing the problem.įor context, recently I used NoiseMaker on this character’s clothing, and needing that resolution increased the poly count quite a bit. If I try to reduce to a lower subdivision level, it crashes as well. If I try to sculpt on the model, it crashes. Suddenly, now whenever I try to open it, the file takes an abnormally long time to load (And if I click anywhere as it’s doing this, zBrush crashes) When the project finally does open, it’s able to load everything just fine, but it’s still very fickle about crashing. I worked on it for the next couple of days without any issues or crashes. Last week, I was working on a sculpt that got into the 30 million point mark. Applications/blender-280/Blender.app/Contents/MacOS/Blender You can also use this path inside terminal and press return/enter That way it acts as a shortcut to open Blender with a console window. What i did with a couple blender versions is drag that blender file inside the app to the dock. So all errors you see in the Terminal come from Blendr. Now the terminal window is the console window. Now open that file, first terminal will open and then a Blender instance. You can do so by right clicking on the app > Show Package Contents > Contents > MacOs > Blender. But for OSX you need to open blender by using the terminal to get the console. I just open Blender 2.81 beta and I don't see Toggle System ConsoleĪre you on OSX or linux? I dont know about Linux.
